Frequently Asked Questions
At the Cosmetic Medical Clinic, we understand that everyone is different. That difference is reflected in the tattoos we choose, as well as our reasons for having them removed or faded. Below you’ll find some commonly asked questions about Laser Tattoo Removal. If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for, simply pop us through and email and we’ll get right back to you with what you need to know.
WHAT MAKES TATTOOS PERMANENT?
HOW DOES THE LASER TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?

The laser delivers extremely short pulses of light energy into the treatment area. Beneath the skin, the ink selectively absorbs the light without destroying the surrounding normal issue. After absorbing the light, the ink shatters into exceedingly small particles that are harmlessly cleared by your body’s natural immune system in the weeks following the treatment.

HOW LONG IS EACH TATTOO REMOVAL SESSION?

On average, each treatment only takes a matter of minutes to complete, depending on the complexity and size of your tattoo. We’re committed to working around your schedule and will even provide you with numbing cream prior to your treatment day so as to reduce waiting time.

WILL MY TATTOO BE REMOVED COMPLETELY?

Most tattoos can be entirely removed using our various laser systems and techniques. Based on the specific characteristics of your tattoo, our professional team will be open with you about what level of removal is most likely to be possible for your tattoo.

WILL THERE BE ANY SCARRING?

The vast majority of patients do not develop any scarring. It is, however, impossible to guarantee that no scarring will occur given the enormous differences between individuals. Some people may experience minor textural pigmentational change. If you have any evidence that your healing capacity makes you especially prone to bad scarring, please bring this to our attention.

IS LASER TATTOO REMOVAL PAINFUL?

Some compare tattoo removal to being flicked with a rubber band, it is not pleasant, but usually very short-lived. Keeping pain to a minimum is very important to us (and we’re sure to you too!). That is why we use a topical anesthetic cream and a specialised cooling system to numb the skin.
